Brazil vs Argentina

Which Side of Iguazu Falls Is Better, Brazil or Argentina?

We get asked this every day. Here is how the two sides compare, so you can decide how to spend your time.

Short answer: both, because they are completely different. The Brazil side gives you the big panoramic view of the falls. The Argentine side takes you right over and under them. If you only have time for one, read on.

Can you visit both sides of Iguazu Falls in one day?

Yes, and it is one of our most popular services. A typical day starts on the Argentine side when it opens at 08:00. Around 13:00 you meet your driver at the entrance, cross the border (about 1 hour, depending on the day) and reach the Brazil side around 14:00, before the last entry at 16:00. Your driver handles the border and meets you at each park entrance at the times you agree.

Did you know? The border

How long does the Iguazu Falls border crossing take?

Everyone travelling between Brazil and Argentina uses the same bridge, and on busy days the line of cars at immigration can take hours. We avoid it. In a car we use two vehicles and two drivers, one on each side: your first driver points out your second driver before you go into Argentine immigration, and you meet them about 25 metres away. Our vans use the special tourist corridor at the Argentine border, so you stay in the same vehicle. Either way, you skip the queue.

    Perfect Service

“We used Iguazu Falls Travel to provide a pick up from IGR airport and visit the falls on the Argentina side then a transfer to visit the falls on the Brazil side and afterwards the 3 borders and back to IGR airport for our flights back to Buenos Aires. As we only had one day the timings were critical to us and Iguazu Falls Travel provided the perfect service.”

Great Transfer by an Organized and Efficient Company

“Using Iguazu Falls Travel was a very wise decision as I was arriving by plane in Foz de Iguaçu, meaning the Brazil side, but was immediately going to Puerto de Iguazu, i.e. the Argentina side, and returning to the Brazil side the same evening.”

Easiest way to see the Argentinian side of the falls

“The transfer to the Argentinian side of the falls was perfectly organised. We were picked up on time and the process of going through the border was very quick. Our driver on the other side agreed a pick up time but also gave us his WhatsApp number (there is WiFi) so we were able to move our departure time back.”

“Thanks to them, I was able to visit both the Brazilian and Argentine sides of Iguazu Falls, which are absolutely stunning regardless of the weather. Clovis went above and beyond by helping me rebook my waterfall entry time and suggesting that I visit the Bird Park first – excellent advice, as it turned out to be well worth seeing.”

“We flew down early afternoon from São Paulo and wanted to visit the Brazilian side of the falls before moving over to the Argentinian side and staying in Puerto Iguaza for 2 nights. Rather than mess around with buses and taxis this was the perfect solution. We got picked up and dropped off then just messaged our driver to pick us up.”

“This transfer service was amazing! Their website was incredibly clear with instructions for exactly how I could go to the Argentina side of the falls just for the day, despite all the confusing regulations and rules due to the pandemic. They picked me up at my hotel on the Brazilian side, got me across to the Argentina side, and then brought me back to the airport.”

Brazil or Argentina: quick questions

Which side of Iguazu Falls should I visit first?

Either works. If you visit both sides on the same day, start with the Argentine side, which opens earlier (08:00) and needs more time, then cross to the Brazil side in the afternoon.

Is one day enough for each side?

Yes. Most people spend about 2.5 to 3 hours on the Brazil side and most of a day (4 to 6 hours) on the Argentine side.

Can you see the Devil's Throat from both sides?

Yes. On the Brazil side a walkway takes you out over the river in front of it. On the Argentine side a separate walkway leads to the edge of the drop from above, when it is open.

Do I need a passport to visit both sides?

Yes, because you cross the border between Brazil and Argentina. Bring your passports and any visas your nationality may require. More about passports at Iguazu.
